Description

"Discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, M20 is a star-forming nebula located 9,000 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. Also known as the Trifid Nebula, M20 has an apparent magnitude of 6.3. Today's catalogue as NGC 6514"
"....the Trifid Nebula and the three wing-like bands of thick dust for which the nebula was named. A group of recently formed, massive, bright stars toward the center of the nebula is easily visible. These stars are releasing a flood of ultraviolet radiation that dramatically influences the structure and evolution of the surrounding nebula."  https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/messier-20-the-trifid-nebula

Maurizio did a long trip up 6 hours to Foreste Casentinesi National Park with the hope of taking a good session night as per weather broadcast but of course few times goes as desired.  No clouds, spectacular Bortle 1-2, but very windy....He had to reduce time exposure to the minimum affordable to try to save the night situation at ISO 3200.  More than 210 frames toked but only 64 could be used for stack.

When I saw the first time an image of M 20 remember me the Glass Flower, mostly for its colour and petals form of this beautiful reflection nebula.  Close to this nebula is M 21, a nice open star cluster.  This is a project we would like to gather more data in the future.
